Exurgency by Zoe Keating

Zoë Keating, a one-woman band based in California. Her composition Exurgency is used at The Great Modernists exhibition to accompany a demonstration of Edvard Munch’s paintings. Zoë Keating records her music on her own using her laptop computer and, she uploads her compositions to the Web without any record labels. Listening to this music one can’t help but remember the words of Edvard Munch when he was talking about his painting The Scream: “One evening I was walking along a path, the city was on one side and the fjord below. I felt tired and ill. I stopped and looked out over the fjord—the sun was setting, and the clouds were turning blood red. I sensed a scream passing through nature.”
